Brentwood History
The history of Brentwood, Tennessee dates back to the 15th century when a few local villages were started by Native Americans. They lived in the area until a point in the 16th century, and much later the Cherokee Indians arrived to use the area as a hunting ground. When early English and French explorers began hunting in the area around 1760, the Indians and these explorers fought over the land for 25 years. By 1795, there were so many white settlements that the Indians no longer attacked.
